Armasight Predator 336 2-8x25 60HZ Thermal Riflescope Description

From Night Vision Guys about Armasight Predator Thermal Imaging Riflescope 60HZ TAT176WN2PRED21

Armasight Predator is here.  What can we say about this thermal riflescope?  If you consider that Armasight is the same company that brought Zeus thermal riflescopes to the market, it becomes clear that Predator which packed with all the latest technology makes for a formidable piece of equipment at an extremely affordable price.

Starting from the superior FLIR Tau 2 VOx core to compact and rugged design and superbly advanced software, Armasight Predator consolidates a lot of what every marksman wants in a single affordable package.  If you are in the market for a thermal riflescope with all of the latest bells and whistles available in the market as of early 2015 for use in close to mid range, this thermal riflescope is a wise choice.

Only 2-3 years ago a thermal scope with a quarter of the capabilities available in the Predator would have cost you 4-6 times as much as Armasight Predator costs now.

Please do not hesitate to contact our sales team if you have any questions about this or any other thermal riflescope.

From Armasight about Predator Thermal Riflescope 60HZ TAT176WN2PRED21

Armasight is excited to introduce its latest and most technologically advanced family of Predator thermal imaging weapon sights to the sporting, law enforcement, and military markets. The Predator product line is based on the latest FLIR Tau 2 VOx microbolometer core. Each model of the line has optimizing performance, price, and state-of-the-art technology for a variety of uses and mission applications ranging from the seriously committed hunter to the military designated marksman. While primarily designed as a weapon scope, the Predator functions equally well in its collateral assignments as a magnified spotting scope or handheld thermal imager.
The Predator is a solid state, uncooled, long-wave infrared, magnified dedicated weapon scope intended for day and night engagements without the need to remove the sight from the rifle. The 24/7 mission capability is just one of its many strengths. Thermal imaging technology also allows you to detect targets by cutting through snow, dust, smoke, fog, haze, and other atmospheric obscurants. Unlike the use of laser targeting or near-infrared illumination to augment Night Vision equipment, the Predator thermal imaging weapon sight is extremely difficult to detect with other devices, as it emits no visible light or RF energy.

In addition to being the smallest and lightest in their class, Predator thermal imaging weapon sights are characterized by their simple and intuitive controls, functions, and features that are layered among direct button adjustments, direct combination button functions, and electronic menu selections. This “layering” of easy-to- understand control functions provides the operator with a framework for customizing his preferences and exploiting the robust variety of setting options available in the Predator. The Predator has a series of selectable color modes based on a rich, upgrade-able software package. A wireless remote switch is included to activate the Predator thermal imaging weapon sight when positioned in the “standby” mode. The Predator has the ability to record videos with optional Digital Video Recorder and is also equipped with a video-out capability in operator select-able NTSC or PAL formats. The Predator uses the same multipin connector to provide video-in imagery, where there is a need for map or rangefinder display overlays, and external power access.

Predator weapon installation is easy, repeatable, and reliable based on a unique and highly user-friendly MIL-STD-1913/ Weaver/ Picatinny rail-compatible, quick-release locking mechanism. The solid state technology and software algorithms, combined with a complementary color reticle platform, ensures maximum reticle contrast, high level target accuracy, and boresight retention that cannot be achieved with mechanical boresight adjusters and traditional ballistic drums. This level of accuracy is translated into the electronic zoom (e-zoom) function of the Predator thermal imaging weapon sights, which can be progressively increased from 1x to 2x and 4x, without changing the point of-aim to point of-impact relationship of the targeting reticle. The Predator thermal imaging weapon sight represents one of the most sophisticated sighting devices available in today’s market to hunters, SWAT teams, and military personnel, due to its superior price-to-performance value.

Here is how thermal imaging devices work...

A special lens focuses the infrared light emitted by all of the objects in view.

The focused light is scanned by a phased array of infrared-detector elements. The detector elements create a very detailed temperature pattern called a thermogram. It only takes about one-thirtieth of a second for the detector array to obtain the temperature information to make the thermogram. This information is obtained from several thousand points in the field of view of the detector array.

The thermogram created by the detector elements is translated into electric impulses.

The impulses are sent to a signal-processing unit, a circuit board with a dedicated chip that translates the information from the elements into data for the display.

The signal-processing unit sends the information to the display, where it appears as various colors depending on the intensity of the infrared emission. The combination of all the impulses from all of the elements creates the image.

There are a few key Manufacturers when it comes to thermal imaging.

ATN: produce such well knows devies as ThOR-HD thermal scope, BINOX-THD thermal binoculars, and OTS-HD thermal monocular.

FLIR/Armasight: the largest maker of consumer level thermal products is well knows for their full product line.  Zeus thermal scopes, Q14 and Scout monoculars, Helios and Scout binoculars and many more.

Pulsar: a very popular brand for digital night vision and thermal imaging.  Key products include Pulsar Trail and Apex thermal scopes and Pulsar Helion and Quantum thermal monoculars.

Seek: mobile device mounted thermal cameras are the main products of this brand.

Delivery Time and Manufacturing Process for Armasight Predator 336 2-8x25 60HZ Thermal Riflescope:

Most of our manufacturers do not keep products like Armasight Predator 336 2-8x25 60HZ Thermal Riflescope assembled on the shelf. Night Vision tubes are kept separate from the body of the unit. When the order is placed, the manufacturer starts the order processing and assembly process which includes the following:

  • Order processing - we collect all the necessary information including address and phone numbers. We also make sure that our customer ordered the correct product for their needs and that the product can be exported by US law to the country of destination. In some cases a signed export compliance form is required.
  • QC - in this step the manufacturer will inspect all individual parts which will be used to assemble the night vision device for any defects.
  • Production & Assembly - during production, all the parts are put together. Night Vision tubes in inserted into the body of the unit and all the complex electronics for the device are connected. This process takes place in a special lab called the "clean room" as even a small speckle of dust can cause undesired optical effect.
  • QA - one the night vision device is assembled, it goes through a rigorous testing process to make sure it meets all the expected specifications and all parts function as expected. For this most manufacturers have a special "dark room" designed to allow testing of the units without causing incidental damage to the night vision tube by exposure to bright light.
  • Packaging - this is a key process as well. In most case your night vision device will be shipped to you directly from the manufacturer but sometimes needs to be sent to us first. In either case items need to be packaged securely to avoid any kind of damage during transportation.
  • Shipping - as described above items will most of the time ship from the manufacturer. For most domestic orders (unless shipping to POB or AFB) a premium shipper like FedEx or UPS will be used.

Only by following the above steps can we along with our manufacturers bring you - our customer - night vision products of highest quality, However as you can understand the above process can take several days to complete. For example if your device fails QA, the entire process restarts. Also at QC stage a manufacturer may realize that the tube they have in stock has a defect and a replacement tube needs to be ordered. Due to the complexity of this process, it is prudent to expect 3-4 business days for production and handling of the purchased device. Keep in mind that this process is designed to guarantee your satisfaction with the night vision device of your choice.  It occasionally possible to expedite the process for urgent orders but addional fees or other restrictions may apply.

  • From Insurrection at 3/17/15 9:37 PM

    • Q: The Armasight Predator 336 2-8x25 say that it also has a NO reticle option, does that mean it can also be used as a clip-on?

    • A: Hi Insurrection!

God that sounds weird. Armasight Predator thermal scope can be used a handheld monocular but not as a clip-on. At least it was not built as one so optics would most likely not align properly and would not focus properly either. Please let us know if we can be of further help in identifying the perfect scope for your needs.

  • From William at 11/30/15 1:19 PM

    • Q: Would you tell me the history of this thermal scope including how long it has been in production and differences between using the 30 HZ versus the 60 HZ models?

      Thank you,

      David

    • A: Hi William. Thank you for your question. Armasight Predator was released earlier this year as a limited edition thermal scope targeted at the hunter who does not need too much magnification. Two version were made originally 30HZ for Optics Planet and 60 HZ for us, Night Vision Guys. After seeing the success of this thermal riflescope, Armasight expanded its production and this scope is now available from several other distributors. In terms of 30hz vs 60 hz, this is the same concept as in Televisions. The higher the refresh rate the clearer the image especially when dealing with a moving target, Please let us know if you have any further questions.

You can read more about the release of the scope on the manufacturer website: http://www.armasight.com/about-company/news/new-armasight-predator

  • From Joseph at 2/3/16 3:40 PM

    • Q: In the market for a thermal scope. Torn between the Zuess and the Predator. What would be the big difference in the 2 besides the price jump?

    • A: Hi Joseph.

Which Zeus were you considering? The main difference between Predator and Zeus thermal scope lines is that Predator has a smaller objective lens and is in general meant for closer range hunting. If you tell us a bit about your hunting patterns we may be able to advise you better on which scope would be most appropriate.
