Firefield NVRS Titanium 1.5x42 Mini Varmint Hunter Night Vision Scope Description

Firefield, a world wide leader in the development and distribution of night vision and sporting optics, stay true to their one simple mission; to produce high quality optics at affordable prices. Firefield devices are lightweight, compact, and quite durable. Extreme care is taken in the construction and design of each optic, and special attention is paid to the art and physics of optical science. This level of quality control ensures that each device is a joy to hold, use, and look through.Good things definitely come in small packages. When you mount the Firefield NVRS Titanium 1.5x42 Mini Varmint Hunter Night Vision Riflescope to your receiver, you own the night. The lightweight but incredibly durable housing sports a sleek profile, giving you the edge when it comes to maneuvering through the night and thick cover. The controls are easy to use, even in bad weather or with gloves on. This is a first generation NVRS, with excellent resolution (30 lp/mm) and high quality optics. Sight acquisition is fast, shot placement is accurate and regardless of the weather or the lighting, you'll be on target quick and easy. There are many different variables that affect the distance that one can see with a night vision device, among them the object's size, the level of details being sought from the object and the conditions of observation. Night vision devices detect much further under a full moon and clear skies than they will under a new moon and cloudy skies. Many different formulas are used to determine the statistic of maximum viewing range and this varies by manufacturer, so ultimately the generation of the intensifier tube is much more relevant than any quoted statistic when determining the maximum viewing range.Bright light in any form is not good for the longevity and performance of night vision image intensifier tubes.

Gen 1 Night Vision

1st generation is currently the most popular type of night vision in the world. Utilizing the basic principles described in detail in our guide, a 1st generation unit will amplify the existing light several thousand times letting you clearly see in the dark. These units provide a bright and sharp image at a low cost, which is perfect, whether you are boating, observing wildlife, or providing security for your home. You may notice the following when you are looking through a 1st Gen. unit. A slight high-pitched whine when the unit is on. The image you see may be slightly blurry around the edges. This is known as Geometric Distortion. When you turn a 1st Gen. unit off it may glow green for some time. These are inherent characteristics of a 1st Gen. unit and are normal.

    • Q: Looking at this Yukon unit versus Armasight Orion 4x for some varmint hunting. Other than the weight being much less, how does this unit stack up against the Orion?

    • A: Yukon NVRS 1.5x42 is a very nice unit. but it is designed for close range hunting. It is a good scope fro crossbows for example. Armasight Orion has 4x magnification which is almost 3 times more. This is the reason it is heavier. otherwise both scopes are very capable.

  • From WILLIAM at 11/13/14 7:20 PM

    • Q: CAN YOU ZERO IN NIGHT VISION SCOPE IN DAY LIGHT IF CAP IS ON OR HOW DO YOU ZERO IN

    • A: Hi William. Night Vision scopes like the Yukon NVRS 1.5x42 are zeroed in at dusk via the holes you mentioned. Typically 10-15 minute session with the cap on should not damage your scope provided there is no direct sunlight into it.
